The inaugural Toi Okahu (Ngāti Whātua ki Orakei Arts Collective) wānanga was held at Orakei Marae, Auckland 29-30 August. The theme of the wānanga was to provide learning opportunities for ngā uri o Ngāti Whātua to explore various art forms including whakairo, rāranga, film and photography and painting. The young, and not so young attended and got hands on experience. The whakairo is a kumete which will be used by to dye harakeke for rāranga projects.
